Cal State L.A. launches new online, self-paced courses

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – With online career training courses in heavy demand, California State University, Los Angeles recently partnered with Gatlin Education Services to provide new opportunities for distance learning in healthcare, business and engineering.

Gatlin Education Services cleans up local river

FORT WORTH, Texas – Employees from Gatlin Education Services, the world’s largest provider of online career training courses to colleges and universities, met earlier this month to clean a section of the Trinity River through the Adopt-a-River program.

Organized by the Tarrant Regional Water District, the program encourages individuals, neighborhoods and organizations to help preserve the Trinity River by performing cleanups in assigned areas. Volunteers from Gatlin Education Services adopted one of the river’s 34 sections and cleared trash items collected along its shoreline. The company will maintain their section once a month.

"It's something that's become very near and dear to us, and we wanted to do something as a company," said Mark Lamkin, COO of Gatlin Education Services. "And it doesn't take a lot of people to make a significant impact when you do a project like this."

Ottawa Area Intermediate School District, Thompson M-TEC announces new pharmacy technician course

HOLLAND, Mich. – Leaders from the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District, Thompson M-TEC announced today an online pharmacy technician career training course is now available for immediate enrollment. Offered in partnership with Gatlin Education Services, the new course will give students an important leg up in the job market by providing them with an externship at Walgreens, provided basic qualifications are met.

MiraCosta College participates in Military Spouse Career Advancement Account Demonstration Project

OCEANSIDE, Calif. –MiraCosta College, in partnership with Gatlin Education Services, recently agreed to participate in the Military Spouse Career Advancement Account Demonstration Project. The College will provide Gatlin’s online career training programs to military spouses who apply at North County Coastal Career Center.

Hosted by the U.S. Departments of Labor and Defense, the Demonstration Project is designed to address the educational challenges of military spouses and provide highly-skilled, well-trained workers to employers in high-demand industries. To complete their education through MiraCosta College, spouses in the program can receive financial assistance up to $6,000 over a two-year period. These individual grants may be used to complete Gatlin’s online certificate programs and other training that will lead to a state-approved credential.

“We are proud to be working with MiraCosta College in the Demonstration Project. It will give military spouses a way to receive the education they need to gain employment and advance their careers,” said Stephen Gatlin, CEO and founder of Gatlin Education Services. “Online training programs are especially useful because even if the military member transfers, the student can easily keep doing their coursework.”

The Departments of Labor and Defense are committed to military spouses and want to ensure their access to the education and resources needed for good jobs and career pathways in the 21st century economy. To be eligible for the program, the spouse’s military member must be enlisted E-1 through E-5 or officer 0-1 through 0-3 and have one year or more remaining at the current duty station. In addition, they must be able to complete the education program before the enlisted individual separates from active duty.

The University of Georgia announces new industrial training courses

ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education announced today its online industrial training courses are now available for immediate enrollment. The five courses, listed in the Skilled Trades and Industrial category, are offered through the Georgia Center in partnership with Gatlin Education Services.

The new industrial training courses at the University of Georgia are aimed at preparing students for a career in heavy industry by providing direction from professionals with extensive work experience in the field. Through the use of interactive multimedia and instructor-supported lessons, the courses teaches students basic procedures and safety guidelines in operating key facilities including a chemical plant, oil refinery, paper mill, power plant and pulp mill.
